About
Newcastle Meals on Wheels has had a place in the hearts and homes of Novocastrians for the past 58 years.
For us it all began here in Newcastle in 1963…. Reverend Donald Bailey introduced the service by starting a caring group known as the Newcastle Meals on Wheels Fellowship which began deliveries to seven elderly people.
Since then every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the past 58 years, a friendly smile, a chat about the weather, a nutritious meal and the knowledge that someone will drop by to say hello has changed the lives of many Novocastrians. And we are proud to be continuing their legacy.
Newcastle Meals on Wheels has come a long way since those humble beginnings in Brown Street Congregational Church, Newcastle and we now boast a state of the art Catering Centre, ten Meals on Wheels branches, a Social Support program and a Distribution Centre that provides meals to services throughout the Hunter region.
We are proudly the largest Meals on Wheels service in NSW – catering to over 1000 clients from our 9 branches
